Big Lou WideNeck Roadster Electric Guitar
As a classical guitarist, the dimensions and feel of non-classical guitars are quite important to me. One of the most important aspects has been the width of the neck at the neck. Usually with acoustic electric nylon-string guitars, the width of the neck will usually be much narrower than the typical 2” (~52mm) you get on a classical guitar.
This has been one reason why I’ve always been reluctant to purchase acoustic-electric nylon-string guitars … I currently own two such models: the Kremona Fiesta F65CW and the Fojil. Both of these have true classical guitar dimensions, except that the Fojil is a solid-body instrument and therefore has a thinner body - still, the width of the neck at the nut is 52mm.
A short while ago I became aware of Big Lou Guitars, a company that provides non-classical guitars that feature a wide neck at the nut. I got the Roadster model (Les Paul like model) and have now had it for a few weeks. This instrument is amazing - it looks gorgeous and it plays great - and most importantly for me, the width of the neck is the same as that of a classical guitar.

The Roadster Limited is a beautiful guitar that combines stylish looks with excellent performance. It features a 24.75" scale length, dual humbucker pickups, a tune-o-matic bridge and a 3-way toggle switch. As far as I’m concerned, I will not need another electric guitar in my studio, In fact, I already started letting go of some of the other electric guitars I had sitting around. The Roadster is enough for me, and it allows me to easily switch between a true-classical instrument to a more modern one without having to adjust my technique very much at all.
I’ve been enjoying this guitar very much and I highly recommend it, as well as the brand Big Lou. These are nice folks that are easy to talk to. They will gladly help you find the right instrument for yourself or for someone you love. Give them a try today.
Here are a few videos I made with this instrument …
