Fender Bass, Fender Tele, Helix Stomp

A few months ago I purchased a Fender American Professional II Precision Bass (P-Bass). I purchased it used but in mint condition, locally on FaceBook Market, from a professional bass player.

The retail price on this instrument is around $1,900, and I bought this unit for $1,100 which included a set of new flat-wound strings.

I played the instrument at this gentleman’s home and I was hooked. The fact that the new set of strings were flat-wound really made a big difference. As a classical guitarist, the few times that I’ve played bass before, the strings would usually eat away at my right-hand fingernails and I would end up with a chipped nail sooner or later. Not a good arrangement for me. These strings are glass-like smooth, and very comfortable for my fingernails.

I wasn’t planning on buying such an expensive bass to keep for myself, but because I decided to help a band that had recently lost their bass player, I wanted to play on a high-quality instrument.

Here is a show & tell video of this instrument that I recorded a couple days ago …

After buying this Fender P-Bass, I started looking around for a sister-instrument, and decided to pin down on an Fender American Telecaster. I played a few models and came across the Fender American Telecaster Professional II Deluxe.

The Deluxe Tele model was introduced in 1972 and it features two Humbucker pickups instead of single-coil, which means the pickups are noiseless. The instrument does feature pull-push volume knobs, which allows for switching between Humbucker and single-coil.

I bought this new, online, and went with the Dark Night finish. Wow. What a beautiful instrument! I’ve played on it a few times already and it is definitely the best electric guitar I have ever owned. Truthfully though, I didn’t own too many electrics, so there’s that.

Here are two videos of this guitar … an unboxing video and then a show & tell video …

I am mostly a classical guitarist and not completely “at home” on an electric guitar, and especially a bass guitar. Still, I enjoy playing on these two instruments a lot.

Here are a few YouTube shorts I recorded on the Tele Deluxe earlier today …

As you can see in the YouTube shorts above, I am using a Line 6 HX Stopm XL effects processor. Also, I am recording straight into my iPhone 14 Plus without the need for an interface. Here’s a show & tell video for the Stomp that I recorded today …

Here are links for the three items in this blog post, just in case you are interested in checking them out. Thank you for reading and let me know if you have any questions.
