Book Review: “The Ten Most Influential Churches of the Past Century”

"Ten Most Influential Churches of the Past Century", written by Elmer L. Towns offers a compelling examination of the influential role churches have played in shaping the cultural and spiritual life in the last century.

Towns explores different theological perspectives, highlighting how each chosen church has left a notable mark in the last 100 or so.

Through careful research and captivating storytelling, the book provides valuable insights into the dialogue between faith and societal developments.

While some may disagree with the inclusion of certain churches on this list, the overall narrative skillfully brings together historical context, architectural meaning, and the churches' impact on Christianity around the world.

Personally, I was not familiar with some of the churches mentioned in the book and I enjoyed learning about them.

One fact that really captured my attention was the dangers of leading a church or Christian organization without walking in holiness and obedience. A successful ministry is never enough, and sooner or later, leaders that paid more attention to ministry growth than to personal holiness eventually brought down the very ministries they were trying to grow.

This will be a great read for anyone who is interested in the different roles today’s Christian church has on society. I highly recommend it.
